Idaho – Lava Flows and the Snake River
Nebraska sports the impressive Sandhill Country, Wyoming boasts about their Tetons and the magnificent Sage Territory, and Idaho shows off history of Lava. The basalt fields of volcanic flow dominate Southern Idaho. The Bonneville Flood of the last Ice Age then carved up those lava fields in to spectacular canyons. Oh, and Idaho has wind too!

I am on a journey to explore the American Great Plains and Pacific Northwest. Eleven states in 13 days. I was inspired by reading Larry McMurtrey’s book: Roads. As I am starting in Missouri, I figured I would start with the Pony Express and the Oregon Trail.
