Art of Rwanda

My friends from Kigali returned to my school today.  They bring art, dance, singing, music and stories from their culturally rich country.  Pacifique travels the world telling his story to support his NIYO Cultural Centre. The organization keeps kids off the streets in Kigali and in school.

A Whirlwind Autumn Exploration

Two days in the forests of Missouri.  My favorite things:

  • Puffy clouds of mist drifting over creeks and rivers in the morning
  • The distinct sweet smell of white oak forests
  • odd shapes of sassafras leaves changing from yellow to red to maroon
  • Eagles, kestrels, red-tailed hawks all searching for food
  • Cool clear streams

580 miles in two days.  10 state and national park sites.

A Nightly Ritual

The sun punctuates the circadian rhythms of our lives. Humans from the dawn of time have been captivated by the nightly ritual.

This photo captures the sun, and two islands of Lanai on the left and Molokai on the right.  The Clouds showed up to play a starring role.

Desert Blooming

Near Lake Roosevelt in central Arizona, you can find the Tonto National Monument. If you visit in March you will find the plants abloom. The cliff dwellings are impressive too.  The Apache Trail is a treacherous but scenic drive.
